Knowledge Anchors Group (KAG) is a wholly Black owned and controlled entity that was established in 2010. The four directors and shareholders of KAG have held senior executive roles in private and public enterprises across South Africa and internationally.
Our directors’ collective experience (spanning close to a century between them) provide clients an opportunity to tap into areas that resonate with some of the challenges being experienced and thereby offering solutions that are pragmatic and implementable whilst effectively being tracked and reported on.

Executive Team
Holds a B. Proc and LLB from Wits University, as well as a Certificate in Finance and Accounting from Wits Business School, among other credentials. He has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, spanning nearly 20 years and encompassing various areas of business management and commercial law. His wide-ranging list of accomplishments and experience includes being; Legal Advisor to the National Union of Mine Workers; Group Manager Employee Relations at ACSA; Group Manager Policy and Regulatory Affairs at ACSA; Member of the Corporate Tender Board atACSA; Arbitrator and Conciliator at IMSSA; Director and Chairperson of the Audit Committee of the East
Moroka Phalane, Group Director: Risk and Compliance
Dr Mbele holds a master’s degree in public policy development and administration and PhD in corporate governance in SOEs from Wits School of Governance. Over the past 20 years Nimrod amassed wealth of experience in strategy design and implementation of large-scale projects, project management business operations at senior management level. He is currently CEO at KAG, and previous roles included but not limited to manager in the CEO Office at the National Development Agency and later promoted to head the provincial office in Mpumalanga. He was also Head of Centre for Local Government at Regenesys Business School, Chief Operating Officer at the Wits Business School, COO at Dual Point Holding and later CEO at the same organisation. Nimrod is also a seasoned academic having lectured domains such as strategy development, operations and performance management at Wits School of Governance, Regent Business School and Regenesys Business School. Dr Mbele is also an accomplished radio broadcaster – he hosts business and thought leadership show called Beyond Governance at 101.09 ChaiFM – to date he hosted numerous captains of industries nationally and internationally on topical corporate governance issues. Dr Mbele also anchors a new show called Beyond Mentorship broadcasted at 101.9 CHAIFM and 91.1 FM. Over the past 5 years, Dr Mbele judged premium integrated reporting awards hosted by PwC, GCISA and JSE. He is currently serving as board member at Afrika Tikkun Trust.
Dr Nimrod Oupa Mbele, Group CEO
Ms Ratala is currently in Private Practice/Consulting as a Registered Industrial and Organisational Psychologist, Certified Coach and seasoned Leadership Development Facilitator. She has over 24 years’ experience gained from working in public sector entities across national, provincial and local spheres of government, parastatals as well as global private sector organisations. Her consulting expertise includes areas of leadership development, organisational development, industrial relations, competency assessments, strategic planning, coaching, trauma debriefing, skills development and social facilitation. She has worked with diverse audiences across Africa. She holds an MA in Industrial and Organisational Psychology from the University of South Africa where she is currently pursuing her PhD studies.
Ms Monako Ratala, Associate
Justice Ndaba is the executive director responsible for strategy and finance at Knowledge Anchors Group. His previous experience includes work as head of consulting at Dual Point Holdings, including an extended stint as CEO and Owner at Vexopath Consulting. He is a former Head of Strategy at the South African Broadcasting Corporation and Acting Group Executive of Human Capital Services (2011).
Director Corporate Affairs at Riversdale Holdings (2006) and Acting Vice President Human Resources at Ingwe Collieries /BHP Billiton (2005).
He holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Managerial Sciences from Henley Business School and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Zululand (1998).
He also holds several executive certificates, including the International Executive Development Program (IEDP) from the University of Witwatersrand and the London Business School (2011).
Justice led a consortium of black business entrepreneurs who obtained a BEE status of 26% at the Zululand Anthracite Colliery, previously owned by BHP Billiton. He has extensive experience in union negotiations and stakeholder consultations across various industries spanning over 30 years.

Justice Ndaba, Group Director: Strategy and Finance
A Human Capital professional and Strategic advisor, leveraging extensive expertise coordinating the entire human capital management spectrum, providing corporate litigation and advisory services. His experience has seen him holding various Executive positions in companies SAB and ABI. He has repeated success in championing change and introducing growth-focused strategies, policies and procedures including staff development initiatives and programs to maximise efficiency, productivity, retention and communications, and reduce risk and expenses. He further held Director positions in AVI, Nandos and CocaCola Canners. He holds a B Degree from Wits University, CPIR,Advanced Labour Law Diploma.
